Birthday Blog Candy!!!

A really quick post since I'm at work, but today is my birthday!! Don't even ask how many years....but, yes, I woke up feeling each of those 16,436 days (when you count leap years) in my aching body. But the advil has kicked in now, and I'm looking for an excuse to throw a party! I haven't offered any blog candy lately so why not today???

Up for grabs is a $15 gift certificate to the Scrap Treasures store. Quite honestly, I'm tired of shopping and trying to find the perfect gift. So I'd rather let you pick out what YOU want! (and this way I don't have to force myself to go stand in line at the post office **wink-wink**)! All you need to do is post a comment telling me anything birthday related. Do you have any birthday traditions? A favorite gift you received? Some kind of food you love to have on your birthday? Anything!

Leave your comment before 6PM CST on Wednesday, Dec 19th, and we'll draw a winner shortly thereafter. I'll email the winner a coupon code worth $15 for ANYTHING in the Scrap Treasures store.....I know some of you have your eye on one of those yummy December kits.

Now....to share my tradition. Actually it's my dad's tradition, but I'm so happy he still does this. I've now been out of my parent's house for ummm.....28 years I guess. And every year on my birthday, the phone rings at 5:30AM. You see I was born at 6:30AM on the East Coast. Now I live in the Central Time Zone, but my 83-year-old father always calls me at 6:30 Eastern Time. I think 2005 was the only year he missed. Clark was 10 weeks old at the time, and my mom convinced him not to interrupt my sleep since I probably hadn't had much of it anyway with a newborn. LOL But that is why I never set my alarm clock the night before my birthday.

Am I first to wish you a happy birthday? I hope you have a good one! My birthday tradition is to always have ice cream cake, since my birthday is in July. Thanks for sharing :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY....again! LOL! I think this is the 3rd place I've posted that!
Only a numbers-geek like you would tell us how many DAYS old you are! LOL!
How sweet to have your father call you every year!
No real traditions here. But all of our birthdays are within a week: Gary's is 11/14; mine is 11/16 & Karen's is 11/21! So we have quite a week!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Rachel. nice and sweet tradition your dad has.

Happy Birthday Girlie. Hope it is a great one.

AS for a tradition. I think the only real thing that would be considered a tradition is that the birthday person always gets to pick what is had for dinner. It can be fast food, a sit down restaurant or something homemade. But it is completely their choice and no one is allowed to complain.

Happy Birthday, Rachel! Hope you have a special day! What a sweet story about your birthday "wake up" call from your dad every year.
Looking forward to meeting you in April at Scrap Etc.!

Happy Birthday, Rachel! A birthday tradition growing up was that my mom would always prepare my favorite meal for my birthday. She made her own noodles, and I always asked for chicken and noodles! I hope that you get all of your favorite treats for your birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! You're just a spring chicken! Not old at all! How sweet that your dad calls at 5:30 am! When I was a kid we always chose our birthday dinner for mom to make and mine was ALWAYS BBQ Ribs! YUM! I don't eat them anymore since I don't eat red meat, but boy they sure were good! Hope your day is extra special!

Happy Birthday Rachel! That is such a cool tradition, although I don't know if I'd want to be called at 4:47 am when I was born. Our birthday tradition is to go out for a meal of choice. The last few years, I've picked PF Changs.

Happy Birthday!!! I think the only tradition we have is going out to eat. Usually we go to my favorite resteraunt- Outback Steakhouse! YUM!!! (Plus I usually always get a gift certificate from my in-laws to go there) Speaking of, my birthday was in November so I still have my giftcard and I'll get to use it at the end of this month when we have no money left! :)

Happy Birthday! I love the tradition of your father calling you every year - that is so beautiful! I don't really have a birthday tradition, unless you count asking my hubby to get me some cheesecake with Raspberry topping every year??? lol. I think I would like to start a tradition with my sons... I will have to think on it. Thanks for sharing.

What a fun tradition of your dad calling you at the exact time you were born!!! My family calls sometime during the day and sings happy birthday. It is so fun to get phone calls all day long from each of my family members.

Happy Birthday to YOU! Hope you have a great one and get everything you want! Sweet candy you are sharing to celebrate with blogland. We usually get to decide the dinner or where to go. Plus we have cake and ice cream. You can't have a birthday without those.
Thanks for a chance.

December 14 was my birthday too. I bought my own dinner (pizza) stopped at HObby Lobby for a glass jar, exchanged my contacts for a better fitting pair and got super yelled at from Hubby about I still dont know what. Oh and I bought 24 jars of peanut butter. AND I have a bunch more years on you too. big whoop. When is spring?

Happy Birthday. December is my mom's birthday so every year for the past 3 years I've crafted a card for her.
She calls me on my birthday and I always make a point of calling her and dad on their birthdays too after all I am Daddy's girl.

And today, the 15th, is mine! Isn't it a great birthday month??!!!
Um, no traditions really. It's a special day though, my husband spoils me: foot rubs, roses, balloons, etc.

Birthday's haven't been as much fun since we moved away from home. Usually me and my dh go out for dinner and celebrate. When we live back home my grandma's b-day is two days after mine so we would have a family party and celebrate both our birthdays together...I miss that. Thanks for sharing blog candy with us all! -Samantha

Happy Birthday!!!! I think that my favorite birthday was when I was first dating my now-husband - he knew I had never had a really good birthday before, and he threw a surprise party for me! It was the best one I've had to date. This year runs a close second cuz he got me a laptop (which I just got yesterday - woo hoo!)!!

I hope your birthday was full of fun and surprises. You have a very sweet dad:) My birthday is nothing special because it falls in January along with my son's, sister's, Bro-in-law's, granddaughters, etc. We are so partied out that nobody really feels like celebrating:) We have a big party for my granddaughter, exchange some gifts amongst ourselves, and call it good:)
